Meet... "Sadie Meyer"

15 year old, Sadie Meyer had only been studying classical voice for about 4 months when her vocal coach encouraged her to audition for a program offered by Idaho State University. She told her that it would be good experience for her to learn how an audition goes. She only had two weeks until the auditions. Sadie said she worked very hard to learn the college level Italian piece that she sang for the audition, and was surprised and thrilled when the mailman delivered a letter telling her she had been accepted!
Sadie will be attending the ISU Summer Youth Opera Intensive. It is a seven-day opera scene study program for intermediate to advanced high school singers. Over the course of the workshop, singers will prepare scenes from some of the great operas of the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Students will have the opportunity to develop vocal skills and artistry through participation in daily warm-ups, rehearsals, and coachings. They will begin to explore the intricacies of stagecraft through staging of scenes and creative development of costumes and props. A final performance will enable them to present the fruits of their labors to parents, colleagues, and friends. Singers will be introduced to the business and marketing end of singing through mock auditions and discussions of career development.
Meet... "Keston Meyer"

Keston is 16 and has been home-schooled from day one. He will take his GED this year.
He has been studying ballet for 2 years in June. He began with the late ballet master Marius Zirra, then Mrs. Summer Gold, and for the last year he has studied with the Brindusa - Moore Ballet Academy in Pocatello. He has also received a 100% Merit Scholarship to the Richmond Ballet, in Richmond Virginia for a 5 week summer intensive. Merit scholarships are based completely on talent. Keston says that being home-schooled has helped him with ballet by affording him a more flexible schedule for studies. But he says that at any time you can come to the ballet academy and you will find dancers sitting on the floor studying schoolwork...homeschoolers right next to public schooled kids. "We all know our academic studies are just as important as our dance studies."
